The Gothenburg, Sweden based IR communications agency Honeybadger acquires the Malmö, Sweden based company Shark Communication in a so-called asset acquisition. Shark, which was previously part of the listed financial group Spotlight Group, will continue to work from Malmö under the Shark Communication brand, but will organizationally become a part of Honeybadger.

“Shark’s experienced team and contact network will broaden and deepen Honeybadger’s current client offering in financial communication. At the same time, we get an office based in the attractive Malmö-Lund region. This deal is thus a natural step forward for our core business, while at the same time enabling us to continue to advance the exciting development projects that we are working on at Honeybadger,” says Honeybadger’s CEO and founder Johan Waldhe.

Shark Communication was founded in 2021 when the business was spun off from Sedermera Corporate Finance and has a long list of ongoing clients in investor relations and strategic financial communication. The company has also acted as communications advisor in a large number of financial transactions. In late 2023, Spotlight Group decided to sell the subsidiary as part of a strategy to concentrate on the core business in the current market climate.

“It feels comforting to hand over Shark’s operations, personnel and clients to a company with extensive experience in financial communication, and our goal is to continue to have a good collaboration with Shark as a part of Honeybadger,” says Spotlight Group’s CEO Peter Gönczi.

With the acquisition of Shark’s business, Honeybadger will effectively double its turnover and personnel.

“We are taking over an already functioning business with a large number of clients and many potential development projects and synergies.
